Marty Mechtenberg

Martin Mechtenberg serves as Director, Entrepreneurship Ecosystem at the South Bend – Elkhart Regional Partnership, a collaboration of economic development partners in the South Bend – Elkhart region, which encompasses 47 communities in northern Indiana and southwest Michigan. The organization serves as a single point of contact for regional communication and seeks to advance economic opportunities for all partner members through collaborative promotion, marketing, and capacity building efforts.

As Director, Entrepreneurship Ecosystem, Marty is responsible for implementing and reporting the Entrepreneurship initiatives of Startup South Bend Elkhart and the South Bend - Elkhart Regional Partnership. He works closely with dozens of cross-sector partners on projects and events while engaging diverse communities and stakeholders related to company creation and growth in the region. Bringing a diverse background in economic empowerment and development to the role, Marty looks to build the South Bend – Elkhart region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem into a robust and supportive environment for growth and innovation.

Prior to joining the South Bend – Elkhart Regional Partnership in 2023, Marty served as the Economic Empowerment Specialist at the City of South Bend, creating a nationally-recognized neighborhood small scale local development support program. With a background in architecture, he presently contributes to Catalyst Partners as a Project Manager and LEED Project Reviewer as well as an Architect with Empower Design Studio. He has spent time as an Adjunct Professor at both Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y., and Olin College in Needham, Mass.
