PRE-ACCELERATOR

The Startup SBE pre-accelerator connects entrepreneurs with mentors and subject matter experts through a 10-week cohort-based program.

Participants learn how to validate their idea with customers, identify their startup’s market size, value proposition, and business model, and seek funding from investors.

Startup must be located in St. Joseph, Elkhart, Marshall Counties in Indiana or Berrien, Cass counties in Michigan, must have raised less than $50,000 in funding/revenue to date, address a national or global market (i.e. no lifestyle businesses).

10 Sessions Over 10 Weeks

Summer 2020 Cohort Open Applications: April 6th – May 22nd, 2020
Summer 2020 Program Dates: June 3rd – July 29th, 2020. Group workshops/sessions take place each Wednesday evening from 5-7pm.

New Opportunities After Participation

Upon completion, participants gain access to opportunities including Notre Dame’s IDEA Center Commercialization Engine, introductions and referrals to investors, and continued assistance from mentors.

What You Get

Participants will walk away with a completed pitch deck and executive summary, access to up to $2,000 in early stage funding for prototyping and validation activities, and potentially finding co-founders.

Commitment

You must commit at least one founding member to approximately 6 hours per week (2 hours attending weekly sessions, 4 hours of work activities on your own)

No Fees or Equity Taken

Unlike many pre-accelerators/accelerator programs, Startup SBE does not take any equity in your business, nor are there any participation fees.

Supporting Your Endeavor

Each week entrepreneurs are expected to attend a group educational workshop or an individualized 1:1 mentor session to make progress on their startup.
