This week Smart Growth America (SGA) will visit South Bend to cap off a technical assistance project with a small-scale manufacturing team comprised of local stakeholders. The team, consisting of the City of South Bend’s Department of Community Investment, South Bend – Elkhart Regional Partnership, INVANTI, Aunalytics, and the South Bend Regional Chamber, has received a four-month technical assistance period with Smart Growth America analyzing strategies to engage South Bend’s small-scale manufacturing community. Consultants from SGA will meet with stakeholders and small businesses from April 24-26.
The project has operated in the larger context of South Bend’s commitment to create inclusive economic opportunity and community development. The grant was originally announced in August 2018, when South Bend was named as one of six selected communities from a pool of 63.
