South Bend Company Awarded Military Contract

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (March 9, 2018) — The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded a multi-million dollar contract to South Bend-based GTA Container Inc. The contract, totaling more than $36 million, calls for the production of collapsible fuel storage tank assemblies.

The DOD awarded a similar contract worth more than $30 million to Texas-based North American Fuel Tanks Inc. Work on both five-year contracts will take place in Indiana and Texas and is expected to be complete in March 2023.

The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime in Michigan is the contracting activity.

U.S. Department of Defense: Defense Logistics Agency Contract (March 8th)
GTA Container Inc.,* South Bend, Indiana (SPRDL1-18-D-0047; $36,213,230); and North American Fuel Tanks Inc.,* Mansfield, Texas (SPRDL1-18-D-0045; $30,028,303), have each been awarded a firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract under solicitation SPRDL1-16-R-0348 for collapsible fuel storage tank assemblies. This was a competitive acquisition with five responses received. These are five-year contracts with no option periods. Locations of performance are Indiana and Texas, with a March 12, 2023, performance completion date. Using military service is Army. Type of appropriation is fiscal 2018 through 2023 Army working capital funds. The contracting activity is the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime, Warren, Michigan.
