Welcome to our team of summer interns!

South Bend - Elkhart Regional Partnership's Summer Interns - l.-r., Arda, Jason and Celia

This summer, we are joined by three interns: Celia Faroh, Arda Kurama, and Jason Migas.
Let’s introduce these talented individuals who are already making a splash in our organization and learn about some of their favorites in the South Bend – Elkhart region!

 Celia Faroh
Talent Attraction and Retention Initiatives Intern

Hometown: Chesterton, Indiana
Major: Strategic Management and Marketing
Year: Rising Junior
High School: Chesterton High School

Restaurant:
“My favorite restaurant in the South Bend – Elkhart region is Parisi’s! Others include The Lauber, Cool Runnings, O’Rourke’s on Eddy Street and The Early Bird Eatery for brunch.”

Outdoor Activity:
The SBE region has so much to offer with outdoor activities, but I’d have to pick walking along the Mishawaka Riverwalk as my favorite.”

Shop:
My favorite shop is the Inspire Me!”

Cultural Activity:
“The Potawatomi Zoo is probably my favorite cultural activity, but again there is so much to choose from. I also love visiting the Basilica at Notre Dame for both Mass, and to admire the artwork.”

Best Way to Spend a Saturday in the Region:
“Hands down, my ideal Saturday in the SBE region includes a football game at Notre Dame Stadium! Outside of the fall, I love to spend my Saturday waking up early for a yoga class, working out, and maybe heading up to Lake Michigan to lay out at the beach.”

Arda Kurama
Entrepreneurship Empowerment Intern

School: University of Notre Dame
Hometown: South Bend, Indiana
Major: Computer Science and Engineering Corporate Practice
Year: Rising Sophomore
High School: Penn High School

Restaurant:
“My favorite restaurant in town has to be Rocky River. I had dinner there for my Senior prom which was a really fond memory of mine.”

Outdoor Activity:
“My favorite outdoor activity in the region is just walking around the many parks and nature preserves in South Bend and Elkhart. My current favorite is Boot Lake, and I love to grab my binoculars and go birdwatching there with my hometown friends.”

Shop:
“My favorite shops in the region are any of the many antique stores littered around Mishawaka and Niles. I really enjoy browsing around and looking at all the funky items, you never know what you will find.”

Cultural Activity:
“The best cultural activity in town is just staying at home and hanging out with my mom. There is no better way to connect with my Turkish roots than to have a chat with her and eat her home-cooked food.”

Best Way to Spend a Saturday in the Region:
‘My favorite way to spend a Saturday night is hanging out with my close friends. I am very lucky to have a lot of friends near home, and one of my favorite pastimes is to just spend time with them all.”

Jason Migas
Marketing Intern

“My favorite restaurant is Soho Japanese Bistro. I love sitting at the hibachi grill and watching the cooks make my food right before my eyes. Plus, it’s absolutely delicious.”

Outdoor Activity:
“I really enjoy golfing. From Juday Creek to Blackthorn Golf Club, there are so many beautiful courses around the area to play with friends or on your own.”

Shop:
Michiana Sports Cards in Granger. Alex and Matt do a great job and sell all kinds of cool vintage sports cards and memorabilia.”

Cultural Activity:
“I like to go to the Morris Performing Arts Center to see concerts, comedy shows, and even Broadway musicals. They attract some big names/shows which makes it even more enticing and enjoyable.”

Best Way to Spend a Saturday in the Region:
“When football season rolls around, the best way to spend a Saturday in the region is at Notre Dame. There’s nothing like heading out to the tailgate lots packed and hanging out with other ND fans before a big game.”
